Today is my last day at Interfolio and ends an overall very happy chapter in my career. I have become a better programmer, learnt an awlful lot and had many great experiences. I leave behind a very talented technical team (Dominic O'Connor, Jon Dowdle and Rachel Lehman) who I'm confident will continue to turn out cool new product enhancements.

I am moving on to become a consultant at WebFirst working at the Federal Labor Relations Authority. Its an exciting opportunity working with ColdFusion 9 and Flex. The former I can't wait to really sink my teeth into while the later I've been wanting to learn for years so am looking forward to getting the chance.

We are looking for a developer who is smart and gets things done. We have a great development team who have won awards and spoken at conferences. The software we build plays a vital role in the lives of tens of thousands of users, impacting crucial life decisions. You would be working on an application that uses code generation and talks to other systems via API's.

Interfolio will celebrate its tenth anniversary next year and is growing at a fast pace. Our main office is in downtown DC and we have a very casual work environment -- most of us wear jeans (and shorts in the summer). We are a mixed office in that we use both Macs and Windows machines based on individuals preference. Our applications are built with Adobe ColdFusion 8 with a MySQL database.

Requirements:

2 years experience with one of ColdFusion (preferred), php, perl, ruby, .NET or Java
Understanding of Object-Oriented (OO) development
Good knowledge of SQL with MySQL (preferred), SQLServer or ORACLE
Great command of verbal and written English
Permanent legal right to work in the United States
May require some after business hours work (for deployments, etc)

We're Hiring, either Full-Time or Contractor

My company, Interfolio, is looking to hire either a full-time employee or a contractor -- we just want the best person we can find. I have been working for Interfolio since January and it really is a great place to work and we are growing at fast rate. We use ColdFusion 8 to do a lot of cool stuff. The First Post

The first post. I've decided to start a blog primarily because I like writing. And having been a programmer for the last 10 years I haven't written much during that time. I also realize I like writing about technical issues and have a fair amount on my mind at the moment so it seems like a good time to start a blog. Note, I did not say I was a grammatically correct writer. So, expect the odd typo and grammatically incorrect sentence from time to time. This is a blog and I'm not going to use the grammar corrector in Word before posting.

I am also intrigued by social networking so InstantSpot seemed a good spot (pun intended) to start my blog.

I aim to cover a bunch of topics, some tutorials and explanations of basic ColdFusion functionality, thoughts on the future of the web and ColdFusion, conferences, and anything else that comes up. I will mostly be focusing on ColdFusion (and will probably start using cf as an abbreviation real soon) though I do hope to post on other non-cf topics like JavaScript, MySQL and databases in general and who knows what else in the future.

I am not going to aim to publish on a regular basis and have pledged to keep this blog a purely non-work time activity. I'm busy enough there anyway. Good busy. I also don't believe blogs die. So if I have nothing good or interesting to say I will say nothing. I also don't think this will turn into a news blog with short entries and links to the latest news. There are enough of those, and, I rely on them for my tech-news as much as anywhere else. In short, if you like what you are reading I suggest using the RSS feeds or subscribing over email.
